Rethinking waste! Our grantee Assorted Trends Afr Rethinking waste!
Our grantee Assorted Trends Africa is a program to empower young mothers and women at risk in Kayunga Town Council in Kayunga District (#Uganda).
On this particular creation they trained their girls on how to use waste around them to create something meaningful... They created #bedspreads and pillows out of offcuts they considered to be waste.
.
As they say: "Waste is not waste until you waste it!". Such a perfect mantra in preparation for the #EarthDay tomorrow 🌍

Our #changemakeroftheweek is Ngọc-Trân Vũ, a Vietnamese-American artist.
Trân received seed funding for her project VietFamStories, which brings together Vietnamese-American elders and young artists to share stories, dialogue, and art.

Her work is expanding the informal network of Vietnamese elders, bringing in the younger generation, and providing a structure for new intergenerational dialogue and creative collaboration.

Projects like Tran’s help communities ensure that they are able to meet “others” not as strangers, but in the fullness of their rich individuality and our shared humanity.
