Every 73 seconds a woman in the United States is raped – that’s more than 400,000 women a year – and less than 1/3 of those assaults are reported. The secret that those survivors carry is wrapped in such fear and shame, it holds the power to destroy lives....
A simple act of kindness transformed into a thriving non-profit organization. We have seen and supported many of these stories of courage and commitment. Like the one of Michelle Carrera and Chilis on Wheels.
Unable to find a vegan-friendly soup kitchen on Thanksgiving 2014, Michelle Carrera and her son Ollie began distributing vegan food to those in need on the streets of New York. This act of kindness blossomed into a non-profit organization, which received support from a grant by The Pollination Project in 2015.
Recognizing the varied needs of their community, the team at Chilis on WheelsChilis on Wheels expanded their outreach to not only offer vegan food but also provide vegan pet food, warming items, and cruelty-free personal hygiene products and apparel.
To date, Chili On Wheels has:
❇️ 8 chapters (Bay Area, Columbus, Honolulu, Maui, New England, New York City, Puerto Rico, Washington DC)
“TPP inspired me to develop community organizing skills, calling upon other community leaders to form alliances and pool our resources for help to the community. Far more than just the money, TPP offers support and opportunities, connecting you to other change makers, and allowing you to grow far beyond what you initially suspect.”

📚 Introducing the Helping Hands Reading Project! 🌟 The project is dedicated to empowering children in Gomoa Nyanyano, Ghana, to become confident readers and lifelong learners. Through access to engaging books and supportive environments, they are cultivating a love for reading among their community`s youth. 📖
In a region where many children lack foundational reading skills, Freeman Ahegbebu and his team stepped in to bridge the gap. With the support of the TPP grant, they already achieved some incredible milestones:
1️⃣ Improved reading abilities for students in grades 4-5, focusing on comprehension, speed, and pronunciation. 2️⃣ Helped over 120 students progress in school by enhancing their reading skills. 3️⃣ Provided access to 120 storybooks and a nurturing space for children to thrive. 4️⃣ Empowered teachers with the tools to identify and address reading challenges effectively. 5️⃣ Raised awareness about the importance of reading every day, inspiring both parents and educators to encourage regular reading habits.
Transforming lives one page at a time! We are proud of you, Freeman! 📚
Academic professionals Carla Forte Maiolino Molento and Rodrigo Morais-da-Silva founded Cell Ag Brazil at the end of 2023 with support received from The Pollination Project. The objective of the newly created association is to reflect, contribute, and promote the development of cellular agriculture in Brazil through proactive promotion and unifying actions among different audiences interested in the development, production, and commercialization of food through cell cultivation processes. . With a seed grant, they founded the organization and designed a logo that represents their mission. They are now inviting people and organizations to participate in the association so that it gains greater relevance. . Their members will be distributed across three chambers: 1) academia, 2) private sector, and 3) third sector and civil society. With this, they aim for diverse representation and to create a positive movement to act in different areas to promote and accelerate alternative proteins in Brazil and Latin America. . Billions of animals involved in food production in Brazil will be impacted in the medium to long term from this work. Data from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) indicates that approximately 6.1 billion chickens, 56.5 million pigs, and 30 million cattle were slaughtered in Brazil in 2022. . With this association, Carla and Rodrigo may help reduce the number of non-human individuals involved in food production as they help to speed up the replacement process with alternative proteins. . cellagbrazil
