Pamellah Dio, Environmental Education in Schools
Pamellah Dio, a conservation officer in Taita Taveta County, Kenya, is leading Environmental Education in Schools, an environmental education project targeting children. Her project addresses the lack of awareness on environmental conservation, which has led to the deforestation in the region that has depleted all the surrounding water resources. There are ten schools that the project is currently involved with, and the program focuses on promoting environmental and wildlife clubs, providing more trash bins for the schools, awareness, and youth-centric events.
Pamellah’s passion for working with local community groups, is shown by her commitment to creating a network of youth mentors. She states, her “zeal and desire for conservation leadership has grown more day by day” which is shown through her diverse action plan for the project which includes a poster campaign, exchange tours, and the long-term vision of creating an environmental resource center for the surrounding community.
The Pollination Project funds will be used for transportation and training costs.
