Madalenas Nepal, The Vagina Monologues 2016 – Workshops and Production

Date grant awarded: April 26, 2016

The Kathmandu-based all women’s theatre-group Madalenas Nepal has spent the three months of rehearsing and engaging in related vagina-workshops to stage the bold, funny and ambitious Nepali adaption of The Vagina Monologues in Mandala Theatre-Nepal during V-Season in February 2016. The monologues allowed them to recognize their stories of pain, abuse, harassment, shame and struggles as woman in Nepal. The monologues also reminded them of the power of arts and community allows individual and social transformation and healing.
The group now continues with relevant workshops and Dialogue-Events to advocate for topics occuring throughout the monilogues and to allow discussion, reflection and learning for spectators.
