Chijike Ndukwu, Rural Grain Storage Project

Those living in Mbaise, Nigeria spend more than 75% of their income on food, primarily maize, which has a 50% loss due to pests and a 40% loss due to poor storage facilities and techniques, making it incredibly difficult to have maize in the off season. Chijike Ndukwu has created the Rural Grain Storage Project, which empowers rural women maize farmers with new skills to increase their incomes, productivity and independence. The training will be held in conjunction with GrainPro, Inc., an international organization who helps in reducing postharvest losses through developing, manufacturing and promoting green and affordable products.
