Ulfat Kazemi, Sustainistan

Ulfat Kazemi, is the creative force behind the Youth Volunteer Association in Afghanistan.

Over the past 2 years, the Youth Volunteer Association has undertaken a number of projects in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, creating water tanks for local high schools, repairing and supplying Health Clinics, holding workshop on violence against women, and much more.

In their newest initiative, Sustainistan, they are helping to create a greener, healthier environment at high schools throughout Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

In the next year, the Youth Volunteer Association will install waste disposal bins on campuses throughout the region. In addition to providing schools with much needed waste receptacles, the group plans to organize environmental education outreach, as well as publishing rules and regulations on environmental maintenance at schools.

Together the Youth Volunteer Association’s campaign will help to increases public awareness of the need for proper waste disposal and environmental conservation.
