“The paper bag project (Beabio Packs) is an initiative conceived by Yong Nelly Shella with the support of Yonga Bernard and RUWDEC team members in Buea South West Region of Cameroon. This project seeks to launch a public campaign by engaging youths in the recycling of craft papers in to handmade marketable paper bags branded with key environmental campaign messages in a bit to give value to discarded papers, keep our environments clean, provide an alternative source of packaging and address climate change. This responds to government’s call to bad plastics and commits to educate our community on the importance of protecting our environment. So far we have produced and distributed 4000 bags, engaged in public events like the World Environment Day, International Day of the Woman’s celebration to create awareness and organized sensitization and training sessions for youths.”
