Sara Trail - Social Justice Sewing Academy

Sara Trail, Social Justice Sewing Academy

Date grant awarded: 06/24/2017

Sara Trail is the founder of the Social Justice Sewing Academy (SJSA), a critical education program that uses participatory art as a vehicle for personal transformation, community cohesion, and social change.

This summer, SJSA will offer a free summer academy for high school students in the Bay Area to support youth in becoming civically engaged artists as they are challenged to tackle current social issues in their community that directly affect their lives. SJSA hopes students will finish this summer as conscious artivists [art+activists] who will use their creativity and imagination to change their world one stitch at the time.
