Maya Penn, Maya’s Ideas 4 The Planet
Maya Shea Penn is a 12 year old entrepreneur, philanthropist, designer, artist, animator, illustrator, and writer. She is the CEO of Maya’s Ideas, a company she started in 2008 when she was 8 years old. Maya creates handmade artisan-crafted one-of-a-kind eco-friendly accessories and clothing. She has been featured in Forbes, Huffington Post, Ebony, Redbook, Young Entrepreneur, FOX 5 Atlanta, Black Enterprise, Gotham Gal, The Michael Baisden Show, CBS Better Mornings Atlanta, and many other publications. Maya was recently featured at an Atlanta TEDx conference.
Maya’s Ideas 4 the Planet spreads environmental awareness and encourages young girls to follow their dreams in non-traditional fields. Maya is using TPP “Pay it Forward” Loan funds to write and illustrate a book about getting kids active in helping the environment and taking care of the planet with the two of her animated characters Lucy and Sammy sheep. Maya will distribute this environmental awareness book when she speaks at schools and girls/kids organizations and events.
