Lauren Vining and Devon Legare, the Saidia Mama Maasai Craft Project

Lauren Vining is a former Pollination Project working in rural Kenya. Together with Devon Legare, they launched the Saidia Mama Maasai Craft Project, to support women in the Masaai village of Namanga, Kenya turn their traditional craft skills into a profitable enterprise.

The Saidia Mama Maasai Craft Project will empower women in Namanga by training them to use traditional designs in order to create goods with a modern spin that will appeal to customers in the US and beyond.

Each program participant will be featured on the Saidia Mama Maasai Craft Project website where their goods will be sold to customers in the US and in nearby hotels. Profits from the sale of goods will be used to purchase supplies, provide income to participants, and a support community-led development projects.
