James Koryor – 2019 Children Study & Play Program

As a direct victim of the Liberian civil war, I established the Consolidated Youth for Peace & Development (COYPED) in 2008 to help reintegrate ex-child soldiers back into our communities, most of whom were victims or perpetrators of violence during the 14 years civil unrest. I have always strived to work and provide opportunities for underprivileged children and young people in Liberia to realize their current situation and take actions to achieve their full potential. Through the 2019 Children Study & Play Program, vulnerable and underprivileged Liberian children reading skills will be improved.

The program is intended to keep in-school children off the streets during vacation and is also gear toward helping out-of-school children play safe and provide a conducive environment for cordial interactions between in-school and out-of-school children through study/tutorial classes, recreational activities, and sports. We see helping the kids as a responsibility to our society and we love doing it.
