James Davis, Tati Freiin von Rheinbaben – Our Hands

Date grant awarded: July 25, 2018

Our Hands is a documentary lending insight into the lives of slaughterhouse workers, people who often endure painful psychological and physical work conditions. Human Rights Watch has classified this work as “the most dangerous factory job in America,” citing abuses of undocumented immigrants and the high rate of workplace injuries in the slaughter industry.

Offering workers a platform to share their experiences – from trauma-induced domestic violence to having to wear diapers at work for lack of bathroom breaks – this film asks viewers to consider how their food choices affect others. With the generous grant of the Pollination Project, the film team will have the resources to arrange travel and secure equipment for the documentary.
