Imran Akram running a group session with other Bipolar Disorder sufferers

Imran Akram – Bipolar Seed

Date grant awarded: February 1, 2020

With over 20 years experience within the education and training sector as a company owner, and having run national and international literary awards, my world came crashing down in 2016 and I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

Our goal is to work with Bipolar Disorder sufferers by providing holistic support and encouraging sufferers to talk openly about their issues and challenges.

Our team will provide assistance on financial issues by addressing them and communicating with their employers or welfare advisors, benefits and welfare support, employment advice and ‘Managing Myself’ care, and career plans to provide medium to long term focus.

We aim to help the Bipolar Disorder sufferer to reach a place of reduced stress, achieve plans – and most importantly – be in a place where they can speak to us when they are feeling very low and suicidal.
