Genevieve Angelica Mossey and Juan Garcia, Semillas Project

Tucked up against the Pacific Ocean, Salinas, California is home to grape vineyards, floral industries and vegetable growers. Genevieve Angelica Mossey and Juan Garcia believe that communities should feel empowered to challenge the structural inequalities, such as environmental racism and food injustice, that negatively impact their health and well-being in the places they live, work and play, and thus the Semillas Project was born. The project uses organic juicing, English classes and community art to help raise awareness and create a positive outlet for community expression.
