Esther Wanjiku Mwangi, Esvendo Social Inclusion
“Esvendo Social Inclusion” project is an initiative created by Esther Mwangi. It was conceptualized after the realization that over 3 million school days are lost every month because girls don’t have a proper way to handle their menstruation.
The social enterprise aims to stop adolescent girls from missing school in Kenyan settlements. Esvendo will achieve this by increasing access and affordability of sanitary towels and other sanitary items through a vending machine that is sold to women on a pay as you go basis. The machine not only aids the girls but also becomes a source of income for the women who own and manage them.
