Digital Young Journalists by Media Mashariki Africa – Digital Young Journalists
Digital Young Journalists (DYJ), headed by Zemirah Harrup, is a project aimed at promoting journalism and public speaking skills among children and youth. It’s also a platform for engaging them constructively and protecting them from being vulnerable to harmful social activities.
Most Kenyan schools have journalism as one of the clubs for the students but they have no professional structure and tools to enhance the impact of the clubs. DYJ fills this gap by partnering with schools and holiday-based programs to strengthen journalism clubs and provide a platform for children and youth to express themselves, strengthening their special talents in journalism and public speaking while setting them up for future development of their community.
