Crystal Chan – SPACE 4 US

Date grant awarded: January 23, 2019

SPACE 4 US is a youth-run program based in San Francisco, California. Founded by high school student Crystal Chan, SPACE 4 US connects high school students from underserved communities with professional resources in the city. The program hosts panels and workshops for students to speak with professionals directly to learn about different careers and provides individualized internship searches for students to explore the opportunities available to them.

Crystal believes that the opportunity to pursue a fulfilling career is a basic human right and through SPACE 4 US, she wants to ensure that all high school students, regardless of their socioeconomic status, have equal access to the professional knowledge to do so. The program’s goal is to level the playing field for students from low-income, disadvantaged backgrounds and set the students up for financial stability and career fulfillment.
