Building with Books by Kickstart Kilifi – Building with Books

Among the first of its kind in the region, Kickstart Kilifi is an innovative community-based learning organization founded to improve the quality of education in Kenya with the aim of reducing school dropout, which stands at 60% in Kilifi County, Kenya. The project was founded by Henry Mkare, a child laborer who became the first university graduate in his village. Kickstart Kilifi addresses the learning gaps in Kilifi County schools by offering academic support and skills training in entrepreneurship, basic ICT, and 21st century skills.

The Pollination Project Impact grant will help Kickstart Kilifi establish a “Building with Books” center where secondary school dropouts and other underprivileged children and youths in Bamba ward will learn literature, basic ICT skills, and the Four Cs: communication skills, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
