In the heart of Matungu, Kenya, what began as a 13-year-old’s dream has blossomed into an environmental movement touching thousands of lives. When Eunita Atitwa received her first grant from The Pollination Project in 2017, few could have predicted the extraordinary impact this young visionary would have on her community and beyond.You gave my dream wings, and I am now ready to fly to new places and villages with pollinator gardens.
Starting with a single pollinator garden, Eunita’s initiative has grown into a flourishing ecosystem of change. The numbers tell a story of extraordinary impact: over 3,000 trees planted within her community, a demonstration garden that has served 5,000 farmers directly and reached 10,000 more through its ripple effects. The garden has become a living classroom, welcoming nearly 5,000 children and adults who come to learn about sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
Her dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2017, she earned second place in the International Young Eco-Hero Awards, and in 2021, she received the prestigious International Children’s Peace Prize, recognizing her outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability.
