Combined with the totally unexpected benefit of being in the Huffington Post and reaching an audience of non-urine enthusiasts, this grant was a game changer. Prior to receiving the grant and its publicity, I was not able to successfully excite people about the project’s concept, as it tended to be too “gross” or “foreign” even if it was still a good thing.
After everyone in my immediate circle read about it in the Huffington Post, then the idea became cool, exciting, normal and people wanted to talk about it! I was so inspired by the response that I decided to focus more on advocacy and media, and ask for help promoting the project.
