When we went through the process of applying for the TPP grant and then received it, these funds took the organizational maturity to another level. Overnight, we went from just being accountable to each other, to also being accountable to an external party that had also given us funding beyond what we’d been able to generate ourselves.

The TPP grant is a great opportunity or ‘training wheels’ to get your organization organized! When the money is not your own and you are accountable to a larger funding body, this is your chance to prove to yourself and to the donor that you can get some basic systems in place to execute the grant accordingly. It won’t be an overnight change, but it will get you started on that journey, which is an important one to get start on, and one which you might not otherwise choose to take if you are constantly self-funding or ‘piecemealing’ your activities as and when you have a bit of liquidity.
