The TPP grantees featured below are dedicated to helping women and children explore and succeed on a path towards economic and emotional stability, and detach from the perception of displacement. There is never only one individual who is experiencing a life challenge or a desire to learn, grow and take care of their families. These projects demonstrate that no one stands alone, and real change is created when communities unite and have selfless leaders to light the way.

Laura Omolara Williams – WADSSWOMEN SME

Laura Williams, who is based in Lagos, Nigeria, is working to stabilize widows in sustainable livelihoods. There are so many widows old and young who are able to work but the economic environment is unable to sustain them so these women and their children live in abject poverty. WADSSWOMEN SME create work opportunities within the range of the abilities the women have so they earn a living wage that brings these families out of poverty.

They work with widows old and young, teaching and motivating them to become stable in a culture that wants to keep them permanently unstable. WADSSWOMEN RICE SME is building a culture of financially empowered widows in Nigeria.

After Laura lost her husband 26 years ago, she suffered great indignities and observed other women who were going through life alone with little to no education. Since then Laura has helped many widows stabilize. The grant from The Pollination Project makes it possible to connect widows across States economically. WADSSWOMEN SM is now creating an economic model that can be replicated in other States of Nigeria and in Africa.

Ruby Yap And Lina Beneb – Giving Widows Chances To Have A Good Life

Giving Widows Chances to Have a Good Life is a project in the Nyoli Koraa of the Savannah Region in Ghana. As a result of the grinding mill building in the region, widows now have the opportunity to live a decent life. As a result of this project, which is being led by Ruby Yap and Lina Beneb, twenty widows will have the opportunity to live their life decently as they will have income coming from this. No matter the income amount and profits yielded, they will be able to move their lives in a forward direction and hope for the best!

Life-Track Cameroon Team – Reusable Sanitary Pad For Displaced Women And Girls

This non-profit organization has a mission to improve the lives of vulnerable women and children. It encourages and engage vulnerable groups especially women and girls to implement viable, effective and innovative solutions to pressing global issues affecting them. It seeks to build the capacity of 100 internally displaced women and girls on menstrual hygiene management and also train them on the production of reusable sanitary pads.

This work is very important because menstrual hygiene management has been neglected in humanitarian settings and it is an integral part of women’s lives. Given the challenges these IDP women and adolescent girls are facing because of the Anglophone crisis, there is a need to safeguard their dignity, bodily integrity, and overall opportunities.

Norah Soko – Protecting Girls And Women From Sexual Abuse At Lake Chilwa

Protecting Girls and Women from Sexual Abuse at Lake Chilwa is an initiative that is protecting girls and women from sexual abuse by men at Kachulu and Nchenga camps along Lake Chilwa, Malawi. It seeks to raise awareness on gender-based violence, sexual abuse risks, human and child rights. Furthermore, the project provides formal complaint and response mechanisms to defend and protect human rights of women and girls.

Moukodi Pauline Ojeme – Menstrual Hygiene Kit For Internally Displaced Girls + Women

Located in Southwest, Cameroon, Moukodi Pauline Ojeme is organizing menstrual hygiene awareness workshops, ultimately training ten internally displaced girls and women with skills. Her Menstrual Hygiene Kit for Internally Displaced Girls + Women project will set up micro workshops to produce reusable eco washable pads. 70% of the pads produced will be donated for other internally displaced girls and women who are vulnerable and in high need of hygienic products. The remaining 30% of the pads will be sold to the local population to sustain the project.

Gihana Jackson – Fields Of Hope

People living with disabilities are considered vulnerable worldwide, however, children and people with disabilities from poor and distressed families are many more times vulnerable compared to others. Despite the fact of being with disabilities, they sometimes fail to get enough food for their daily survival, which leads to nutrition deficiency diseases. Coupled with the daily challenges of finding medical insurance and transport, those in Rwanda who are able to seek medical services cannot pay the remainder of their medical costs that insurance does not cover. This raises the question, where is their hope in this world full of calamities, disasters, and poverty? Behind many of the world’s problems are answers, which led Gihana Jackson to the idea of Fields of Hope. A hope for those who are in need many more times than those who are needy!

Gihana is a nutritionist student at Catholic University of Rwanda and after currying out several surveys, she discovered how children and people with disabilities from poor and distress families are suffering with less or no help. With the support from The Pollination Project, Field of Hope is working hard to create a better world for these innocent souls by counseling, rehabilitating and supporting them to attain and live a healthy and happy life in their communities through our programs which include; counseling, agriculture, arts and craft, and agricultural and nutrition training.

Nancy Atieno Okech – NACAO Bakers

Health and nutrition are becoming the most critical areas of investment for young people in the Kenyan economy. As the economy continues to grow, the fear of poor health, unemployment of youth, and limited access to opportunities continue to affect society. NACAO believes that the business of health builds all else, and as such is engaging youth on the training and design of vege-cakes that would inspire investment in proactive health and nutrition programs in Kisumu County and beyond. NACAO considers themselves pioneers in this endeavor and seeks to build a healthy and prosperous county.
