To celebrate our 1000th Grant, The Pollination Project announces

The Visionary Award

The Visionary Award is a $1000 seed grant for a startup social change project anywhere in the world.
And the public gets to decide who wins!

Visionary-Award The Pollination Project started making daily (sometimes twice daily) grants on January 1, 2013. In July, 2015, we will make our 1000th grant, representing approximately ONE MILLION DOLLARS of funding given in support of social change projects.

Two and a half years ago, when our co-Founder, Ariel Nessel, announced his intention to give away $1000 a day, every day for the rest of his life, people thought he was nuts. But after awarding nearly $1,000,000 in grants to exceptional social change leaders in 56 countries and counting, our impact continues to grow.

In celebration of this huge milestone, and to acknowledge the vision, courage and hard work it takes to start a social change project, we are offering the Visionary Award to our 1000th grantee.

Our team of grant advisors will select three finalists for the Visionary Award and turn the final decision over to the public! Voting for the Visionary Award will begin on our website on June 15, 2015 and the winner will be announced on July 29th.

The winner will receive a $1000 Pollination Project grant and widespread promotion in our social media network, as well as promotion through relevant media outlets. This is a great way to kickstart a project and get lots of public recognition for the importance of your work.

Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions:

Anyone anywhere in the world. Please read our funding guidelines for more information about what kinds of projects we fund.

First, please complete our prescreen questionnaire to make sure your project meets the most basic funding qualifications. If you meet our basic guidelines, you will receive a link to our online application. Please note, we cannot accept applications via Facebook, snail mail or cut and pasted into the body of an email. When you fill out the application, check the box that says you’d like to be considered for the Visionary Award. You will also be considered for one of our daily grants in the process, so there’s really nothing to lose.

Each finalist will receive heavy promotion across the Pollination Project network and all of our social media channels. They will also receive a $1000 grant.

Yes. Anyone will be able to read about the finalists on our website, and vote for their favorites. Each person will get the opportunity to vote once a day while the voting is live.

In addition to the $1000 grant, you will receive widespread public recognition across the TPP global network, as well as media and PR support. And the glory of saying you won.

You will be notified as to whether you will receive one of our daily grants within our typical application timeframe (typically within eight weeks of submitting an application). If we are still considering you for the Visionary Award, we will let you know at that time.

Yes. People who have a recommendation from either a current TPP grantee or one of our organizational partners are twice as likely to get funded as someone who doesn’t. Please see our current list of other community partners and be sure to tell us who referred you when you apply.
We are looking to fund great people and great projects. We are looking for individuals with a proven passion for their chosen issue, a thoughtful analysis of the problems and solutions, and a solid strategy behind their vision. Projects should be early in their life cycle, and not yet be at a point where there are paid staff or a large organizational infrastructure behind them. We fund anywhere in the world, and in a wide range of issue areas. To see the types of projects we fund, we recommend you check out our grants funded for 2015.

Application deadline has past and we are no longer accepting Visionary Award applications.

The Visionary Award deadline for applications was May 5, 2015.
