of #changemakers

The Pollination Project is a collaborative Foundation that offers seed funding ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Our network of sixty five grant advisors and five country coordinators, each an expert in their respective fields, leads our funding decisions.

This participatory grantmaking process aligns with our ethos of empowering individuals on the front lines to effect positive change within their communities, cultures, and countries.

Beyond financial support, The Pollination Project Foundation assists grantees in taking their initial steps towards fundraising and offers first belief in their mission. Additionally, we offer capacity-building workshops, mindfulness retreats to prevent burnout, and resource navigation to ensure that our grantees’ work achieves tangible goals.

At TPP, we believe in people, so we invest in people.

Maida Šabeta-Lemajić: Working Towards Universal Protection for Animals

Location: CROATIA

Maida is a longtime animal advocate with a master’s degree in Law from the Sarajevo Law Faculty and the Campaigner and Fundraising Manager for the United Nations Convention on Animal Health and Protection (UNCAHP), a project that aims to make animal protection global by law.

In order to give the UNCAHP the impulse it needs, Maida and the Global Animal Law (GAL) team are strategizing the production of videos in Australia, Switzerland, and Croatia. These videos – with the support of a TPP seed grant –  aim to engage a broad audience and establish a network for fundraising efforts.

“It was a celebration within the association team when I received the confirmation email. We are very grateful for the funds and excited because this is the first grant we have received for the project and I firmly believe that global animal protection requires global attention.”

Please, meet Maida Šabeta-Lemajić , our Heartivist of the Week!

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a landmark document from 1948, marked a pivotal moment for humanity by acknowledging inherent rights for all individuals, regardless of origin or circumstance. However, while humans have seen progress in safeguarding their rights, the same cannot be said for other inhabitants of the planet. Maida Šabeta-Lemajić, a passionate advocate for animal welfare, is tirelessly working alongside the Global Animal Law GAL Association to extend universal protection to all sentient beings.

Born and raised in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maida`s journey into animal advocacy began during her college years when she discovered the pervasive issue of animal cruelty. Since then, she has been instrumental in shaping animal protection laws in her country, leading to significant reforms such as banning animals in circuses and curtailing animal experimentation.

Maida`s dedication to animal welfare has taken her to various organizations, including PETA Germany and Cruelty Free International. However, it is her involvement with the Global Animal Law GAL Association that has allowed her to pursue her dream of enacting global animal protection laws. Under the leadership of figures like Dr. h.c. Antoine F. Goetschel, the association is working towards establishing the United Nations Convention on Animal Health and Protection (UNCAHP), a monumental initiative aimed at legally safeguarding animals worldwide.

Maida and her team are spearheading efforts to raise awareness and garner support for the UNCAHP through initiatives like video production and outreach campaigns. With support from organizations like The Pollination Project, they aim to amplify their message and build a global coalition for animal rights.

Spreading Hope and Understanding: The Impact of "Mental Health First Aid Training" 🧡

In every community, there are everyday #heroes waiting to be empowered. From parents to teachers, caregivers to students, and clergy to community leaders, the potential to make a significant impact on mental health is immense.

"Mental Health First Aid Training" is lighting the way for these individuals, equipping them with the crucial skills needed to offer a supportive hand during mental health crises or when someone is struggling with substance misuse. The heart of this training lies in its simplicity and power. It demystifies the complex world of mental health, breaking down barriers of fear and hesitation that often stop people from stepping in to help. Through practical knowledge and understanding, it addresses how to spot the signs of mental illness, including depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma.
But more importantly, it teaches what to do until professional help can take over.

Imagine walking down the street and seeing someone in distress. For many, the instinct might be to walk past, driven by uncertainty or fear of doing the wrong thing. "Mental Health First Aid Training" changes that narrative. It transforms bystanders into proactive supporters, ready to offer help to loved ones, friends, or even strangers in need.

The ripple effect of such training is profound. As more people are educated, the immediate support network within communities grows stronger, making a significant difference in times when professional help may not be instantly available.

Thanks to the support of a seed grant from The Pollination Project, the vision of offering this transformative training for free is becoming a reality.

Discover the Unseen, Celebrate the Unheard 🌟
Last year, we introduced you to a project close to our hearts, and today, we`re thrilled to share its blossoming journey. Throughout history, art has been a mirror to humanity`s soul, reflecting beauty, culture, and the human condition. Yet, in the vast narrative of art, the voices of countless talented women have been dimmed, their brilliance shadowed.

"The Noble Dream of Being an Artist" is not merely a book, but a beacon of resilience, creativity, and the unyielding spirit of women artists through the centuries. This pioneering work sheds light on the often-unseen challenges and stories of diverse women in art, presenting a raw and genuine peek into the world of visual creativity.

Dive deep into the lives of 52 extraordinary women who`ve been overlooked and underrepresented, their stories waiting to be told. Through "The Noble Dream of Being an Artist," we not only rediscover these remarkable talents but also envision a future where every artist is acknowledged.

Crafted by Gabriela Calderòn, this literary venture is a call for change, challenging societal norms and dismantling centuries-old constraints on women artists. It`s a celebration of their invaluable contributions, ensuring their legacies resonate in art`s eternal tapestry.

🎉 Join us in this celebration as "The Noble Dream of Being an Artist: Hidden Faces of Art" embarks on a journey to change the world. Kickstarted with a presale on March 8th through a crowdfunding campaign, the book has been launched on Amazon in both Spanish and English editions, making its inspiring message accessible globally.

But there`s more! Beyond the pages, Gabriela is spotlighting the life stories of 52 female artists who faced discrimination and oblivion. To honor them, 51 incredible Costa Rican artists have come together, crafting portraits that pay homage to these pioneering women.

Let`s unite in supporting this groundbreaking project, amplifying the voices of women artists for generations to come! 🧡

A seed grant for stray dogs ❤️

Angela Shrestha received a TPP seed grant for @projecthumane.nepal to educate over 3800 school students on animal welfare, focusing on compassion towards stray dogs.

The project used a portable projector and speaker to show educational content and distributed printed materials to reinforce lessons. It also introduced a Humane Education course in schools, created animal welfare-themed merchandise for awareness, and plans to assess the program`s impact. The initiative aims to change negative perceptions of strays and encourage humane values, benefiting animals, children, and the community by fostering a culture of empathy and action against animal cruelty.
