Umra Omar, Safari Doctors

Lamu, Kenya lies in a region that is not only hard to reach but is also plagued by terror attacks, one of which recently set a dispensary on fire that served 6,000 plus people over a stretch of 56 kilometers. The need for healthcare is urgent and Umra Omar has created Safari Doctors, a cost-effective program that provides basic medical and preventative care to remote areas. A nurse and volunteer doctor set sail on monthly mobile clinics through various villages, reaching tens of thousands of people.
