Thell Robinson, Violence and Mediation (2015 Impact Grant)

A former drug dealer, Thell Robinson launched a Violence Intervention and Mediation Program in Columbus, Ohio. His volunteer team effectively mediates conflicts, mentors youth, and runs successful programs to help young people forge a productive path in their lives. Thell writes, “A lot of our clients were involved in violent acts in the communities. Conflict Mediations are facilitated by trained gang specialists that have intervened in numerous altercations and prevented violence. We mediate conflict between at risk violent teens who are often times gang members or drug dealers. We take a hands on approach and visit with the individuals involved in conflict to give them a chance to be heard. Our mediators have a way of getting through to individuals involved in conflict.”
