Taavon Bazemore and Latiesha Heggie, Serving our Youth in Better Ways

Young people in urban communities face many negative risk factors after school hours. Unparagoned engages youth during those after school hours and give them positive role models, activities and experiences.

Through their program Serving our Youth in Better Ways, Taavon Bazemore and Latiesha Heggie advocate for Baltimore’s youth to excel academically, socially, and morally.

Unparagoned works with high schools, health and human services organizations and using performing and creative arts to engage youth, allowing them to support and strengthen the youth’s talents as well create rapport and open dialogue to address issues and concerns they face in their communities.

“When our young people create their own poems, dance routines, songs, spoken word pieces this gives them the opportunity for self expression giving those who attends our events the chance to see who they are.” – Taavon Bazemore
