Suzanne Barish, Please Pick Project
Please Pick Project makes good food accessible to everyone in its community by weaving free organic gardens into the urban and suburban landscapes of several towns and villages outside of New York City. They create these gardens in front yards, civic centers, and public spaces–all within reach of passersby on the sidewalk. The result is a forest of healthy free food surrounding people in their own neighborhoods; thus everyone can conveniently pick the highest quality snack and meal ingredients each day without any financial or logistical barriers. Please Pick Project also creates free organic gardening and healthy cooking education for local students in its hometown, Nyack, NY.
