Shenika Jackson, My College Going Self

The “My College Going Self” project, headed by Shenika S. Jackson, and co-partner Jvonne Foster plans to decrease high school drop-out rates and enroll more African American males in higher education. The project aims to educate young African American males about the history of African American “historians”, the importance of historical black colleges, and their heritage.

The goal is to instill in African American males the importance of education, and assisting others in their communities, through workshops, and small group discussions. The “My College Going Self” Project will provide a means of self-sufficiency, self-pride, and empowerment.
