SHALOM NDUNG'U - Mechanics for Youth

Shalom ndungu – Mechanics For Youths

Date grant awarded: November 23, 2018

For youth in Kenya, the unemployment rate is high. In the city of Eldoret, there are a high number of break-ins burglary, which are often carried out by youth. Shalom is a young person in Eldoret who has had a challenging time securing a job; that was until he started doing mechanics work, which has been paying for his cost of living.

He realized that there is a huge demand for youths with basic mechanic skills in this industry and has been training young people on basic mechanics with what he has. So far he has trained 5 youths, since access to more tools hasn’t been attainable. With help from The Pollination Project, he will be able to train ten youth at a time.
