Date grant awarded: October 27, 2016

Poverty proves to be the driving force behind deforestation in Miswe, Tanzania as people look for any means to make money. Sebastian Paschal Sanga and Orica Muyinga are addressing unemployment by providing reliable work and income for the community through their work, Proposed Passion Project to Fix Poverty & Deforestation. Passion fruit seedlings will be prepared, leading to a community-wide nursery with the hopes of forming a cooperative of farmers, leading to loan accessibility. The project hopes to start a cooperative where contributions will be collected to use as loans to other members.
