Romario Mushroom Farms – Household Mushroom Cultivation for Livelihood Improvement

Date grant awarded: September 16, 2018

The Organic Household Mushroom Cultivation for Livelihood Improvement project is located in Kumbo, Cameroon, and it aims to train and support underprivileged teenage single mothers, which will help alleviate poverty. Project organizers train participants to cultivate mushrooms, which will provide an alternative source of income and provide health benefits. The project empowers women and youth, improves and promotes waste recycling, and boosts micro-enterprises in the area.

The Pollination Project grant will help organizers purchase hands-on training materials for mushroom cultivation, as well as materials for a one week training workshop to prevent teenage pregnancies. Organizers will also use the funds to purchase communication airtime, which will help them assemble project participants.
