Rebecca Singleton, The Promised Group: Project RESET
Rebecca and Troy Singleton are the founders of project RESET (Rebuild. Educate. Stabilize. Employ. Transform.), a program designed to provide minority citizens returning from prison with an opportunity to reset their lives through transitional housing, job training, financial literacy, and intensive case management. The founders believe that if given the tools needed to address the issues that cause recidivism – lack of housing, difficulty obtaining employment, limited support system – people will be more likely to leave prison and never return. The goal of the project is to help end the revolving door in local prisons and reset the trajectory of minority communities in Philadelphia.
The vision behind RESET project is to one day let Philadelphia be an example of how a community can transform when returning citizens are successfully reintegrated into society and own the path of their future.
