Date grant awarded: 08/21/2017

Nalantha Organic Farming Production and Training Center Through Bio Pesticide & Fertilizer Unit is the innovative project by Nalantha Educational Trust headed by Mr. Rajendran. The project aims to train small and marginalized farmers in ecologically friendly and sustainable agriculture practices through bio-dynamic farming that does not use chemical pesticides, fertilizers or growth hormones. The project will train these farmers in organic farming using locally available resources with the help of Nalantha’s organic agriculture experts and local volunteers.

The anticipated benefits are many, including: increasing yields through the use of affordable inputs, improving livelihoods and food security, reducing financial risk by replacing expensive chemical inputs with locally available and renewable resources, integrating traditional farming practices and allowing farmer’s access to new market opportunities. Overall, this project will contribute to greater resilience of farming systems in these times of climate extremes, while also improving human health and maximizing environmental services.
