Raelyn Castillo – Strengthening our Native Youth Through STEM

Date grant awarded: September 11, 2018

The Strengthening our Native Youth Through STEM, is a monthly project designed for members of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Organization at UC Riverside to visit local Native American Elementary Schools. This grant gives the university students the opportunity to strengthen their relationships with the younger generation by providing them with STEM hands-on activities and projects.

After the activities with the students, AISES members are able to educate students on the importance of STEM and representation of native youth in the STEM field. Creating long lasting relationships with Native youth will give them the confidence and empowerment to believe that STEM is an option for their future endeavors.
