R. Mariagracy and Ramya Nancy, Socioeconomic and Health Empowerment of Adolescent Girls

A group of Indian woman gather in a circle.

In Pudukottai, India, many girls are illiterate and as a result lack knowledge on health and nutrition, thus face varying infections and diseases. In addition to the deeply rooted gender norms, girls often find themselves in positions of early marriages and school dropouts. R. Mariagracy and Ramya Nancy envision a world whereby these girls can overcome said challenges and have created the Socioeconomic and Health Empowerment of Adolescent Girls project, whereby 60 adolescent girls will attend training camps leading to vocational trainings and kitchen garden activities.
