Okoa Maisha Ya Watoto (OMAWA) – Clean water for school children in Rural Tanzania
The “Clean water for school children in Rural Tanzania” project aims to supply safe and clean water for cooking, drinking and hand washing for primary school children in Moshi rural district. The availability of clean water will help reduce water related disease and improve retention rate and academic performance at the schools. Poor water, sanitation and hygiene are major causes of preventable illness and deaths of children throughout primary schools in rural Tanzania. Improving access to clean water in schools is essential for keeping girls in school, and ensuring their right to education. The project will provide water storage tanks to support 600 school children to have access to clean water.
