Northbrook Middle School Peace Poles – Northbrook Middle School Peace Poles

Date grant awarded: 10/28/2017

Art teachers Elizabeth Rodriguez and Veronica Rendon-Majmudar are bringing light, hope, and connections to their school and community. After noticing that there is a need to build more collaboration and communication among their students at their middle school, they decided to begin a project to help students understand each other’s likes and differences by spearheading the creation of Community Peace Poles!

Their goal is to have 300 students create beautiful and inspiring artwork to be displayed on their Peace Poles. These will be placed on the outside of the school to be viewed by the entire community. Their project symbolizes the oneness of the students and school, and builds strength within the community. It reminds all that we are all one body and even though we may have many differences, we can truly work together to achieve peace in our communities and throughout the world.
