Michael Harrington, The Wandering Reel Traveling Film Festival
Michael Harrington has always had a passion for film, but after years of working in Hollywood he was disenchanted by the industry and decided to turn his attentions toward promoting films that could inspire reflection and social change.
The Wandering Reel Traveling Film Festival is a traveling short film festival that showcases thoughtful cinematic pieces from across the globe. After holding open submissions for the festival throughout the summer, Michael and his colleagues will select films that engage audiences in deeper conversations about the nature of film, the industry’s relation to various communities, and even conscious living as a means of making the world a better, more unified place.
In October 2015 the festival will launch in Southern California visiting approximately 25 venues as it travels between Los Angeles to British Colombia throughout the rest of 2015. Films will be aired at theaters, schools, community centers, libraries, churches, and anywhere else that organizers can reach out to the local community. In 2016, Michael plans to bring the festival to the east coast of the U.S., as well as organizing global pop-up viewings during the tour.
