Matthew Webb, Generation of Generosity

As a child, Matthew Webb was given opportunities to help others and to make an impact in his community. Now, as a parent, he and his wife Eva, have tried to instill those same values into their own children and decided to travel across the United States as a family to accomplish this.

Matthew’s family of five has hit the road for a whole year to film and interview young change-makers in all 50 states, and share their stories through film, television, books, and a child development study. Matthew’s hope is that by telling these stories, other children, including his own, will be compelled and empowered to make a difference in the world, thus helping to grow the One Year Road Trip: Generation of Generosity movement.

Matthew will make a TV/web series and a children’s book about the stories and youth they meet. He will also create a documentary film about his family’s transformation, and a book of short stories and lessons learned while traveling. Matthew and his family have already visited 39 states and D.C., and have interviewed more than 50 individuals/groups. His hope is that through these resources, youth around America will be inspired and empowered to make positive change in their own communities, and that parents, educators, civic leaders and community developers will have the knowledge to create environments fertile for young change-makers to grow.

This Grant will assist the family in improving the mobile friendliness and interactivity of their website, and to continue to promote and maintain communication with the hundreds of donors and volunteers who have helped to complete the yearlong road trip.
