According to Transgenerational Design Matters, in 2012, 41.5 million individuals were aged over 65 years, a number that has continued to explode with the aging Baby Boomer population. In Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA, Mary Small and Vincent Wilson-McCoy are providing preventative and early intervention services to older adults surrounding depression, dementia, substance abuse and suicidal tendencies. The Community Assistance and Resources for Seniors (CARS) project provides community-based services, including arts and crafts with peers, field trips, recreational activities, exercise classes, shelter referrals, grief counseling and more to provide the elderly with an engaging and fulfilling aging process.
