Kyabuyorwa Environmental Conversation Association

Date grant awarded: 02/26/2018

Kyabuyorwa Environmental Conservation Association was founded in 2016 by a group of five youths who wished to create employment through agriculture while conserving the environment. Together, they have set aside a total of five acres of land and are planning to plant 2500 coffee seedlings this year. Coffee is highly profitable and allows for mixed cropping, so they expect to be using their coffee garden to plant seasonal crops like beans, ground nuts, vegetables, pumpkins, and corn, allowing them to generate food as the coffee continues to grow. This project is sustainable since coffee takes about 2 years to start harvesting and you don’t need to cut down the trees to harvest. You only pick the fruits and the trees continue growing.
