Kesha Rashed and Shatima Aycock – Teen W.OR.C. Parenting Program

Date grant awarded: July 29, 2018

Fostering Footprints Inc.’s Teen W.O.R.C. Parenting program provides parenting and life skills classes to teen moms between the ages 17-24 who have aged out of the foster care system. The W.O.R.C. acronym stands for We Overcome Real Challenges. Many teens are left to support themselves at the age of 21, which poses a real challenge to them, as they are often unprepared to face the world and their responsibilities on their own.

Project organizers, Kesha Rashed and Shatima Aycock provide support in areas of building a strong parent-child attachment, financial skills, healthy relationships as well as support for completing high school and furthering their education beyond. Teens are also matched with mentors who offer encouragement and support through their goals. The Pollination Project will provide funds so that Kesha and Shatima can purchase a real care baby with a starter kit and curriculum.
