Katharine Fox and Osman Ganafa, Schools in Charge

A man stands in front of a classroom as students in orange shirts raise their hands.

With HIV prevalence in Uganda peaking in the early eighties, the United States and independent faith-based organizations financed education focusing on the ABCs – abstinence, being faithful and condom use. Knowing there is more to share, Katharine Fox and Osman Ganafa, located in Mukono, Uganda, are empowering and educating secondary school students about adolescent sexual and reproductive health through their project, Schools in Charge. The project will train 100 student Peer Health Educators in four schools who will be trained in adolescent development, life skills and peer counseling.
