KARE Collective – SELF-KARE

Date grant awarded: August 4, 2018

SELF-KARE is project created by educator, Yeshahyah Yisrael of KARE Collective to provide a safe, vulnerable space for community members of all ages to learn a hands-on approach to self-care. SELF-KARE uses food, music, and art to answer questions surrounding the importance of self-care and introduces ancestral and contemporary methods of self-care to participants.

Their aim is to raise awareness in their communities in Sacramento, CA about the benefits of having a routine of self-care to rejuvenate your physical, mental, and spiritual health. They want to demonstrate the importance of interactive creation of introspective art and moving music when the world is weighing on your shoulders.

The Pollination Project grant will help them purchase tabling supplies, flyers, online promotions, cushions and chairs for portable workshops, and media equipment.
