Kakamega County widows empowerment project

Date grant awarded: August 4, 2018

Kakamega County Widows Empowerment Project is located in Kakamega County, Kenya. The project empowers women by training them to make and maintain their own lamps and as a form of social enterprise. The project is highly needed as it enables women to be self-reliant. Additionally, many women were using old lamps that could emit carbon in the air and cause health problems including asthma, eyes problems and poor performance.

This project is important because women will no longer experience chest problems and eye issues since the solar lamps are efficient and environmentally friendly. With the Pollination Project funds, organizers of the project will purchase solar panels, and help the women acquire new skills.
