Justus Nyongesa Wanyama, Rhoda Otieno – RICEP Korogocho

Justus Nyongesa Wanyama and Rhoda Otieno are the founders of the project, Rescued and Improved Community Empowerment Programme(RICEP), located in Kenya. The project rescues, trains, and empowers teenage mothers and youth in Korogocho slums. They teach the youth skills in hairdressing and beauty, barbering, counseling, entrepreneurship, and management skills.

The project supports girls who dropped out of school and now have lost hope in life. Some are engaged in drugs and substance abuse, as well as prostitution. This project is important because those who have completed the program have stories of success to tell and are change agents in their environments.

The Pollination Project grant will help Justus and Rhoda purchase training equipment for the project, snacks for the trainings, posters and banners, and cover transportation costs.
