For women living in the urban slums of Nairobi, Kenya, their access to resources is limited due to widespread inequality and poverty. Joyce Kebedi Kidanda is a recent recipient of a pay it forward loan for her project, Vikabo Women Empowerment Group, where women come together to empower one another through engagements in socio-economic, entrepreneurship activities. Together they weave beaded bags, knit bed covers and décor pillowcases, lampshades and fashion apparel, which is in turn sold for improved income.
