Josephat Bwire is a former Pollination Project Grantee, a Pollination Project Grant Advisor, and the founder of the Fountain Youth Initiative (FYI) in Githurai, Kenya located just outside of Nairobi.

Josephat’s organization, the Fountain Youth Initiative, aims to nurture, empower, and transform vulnerable local youth and women into self-reliant, independent players in the development of their communities and country. The organization currently offers a number of programs that provide Githurai’s youth with menstrual hygiene products, back to school supplies, social enterprise and vocational skills training, recreational activities, and volunteer opportunities.

Josephat’s Mtandao Mashinani Initiative is an extension of FYI’s Rise Up with Computer Skills Project, a program that has successfully helped over 200 local youth secure jobs in an effort to reduce community unemployment and crime rates.

The Mtandao Mashinani Initiative will supplement Rise Up’s computer skills training program by providing internet services to trainees so they can widen their scope of education. Thanks to the Mtandao Mashinani Initiative, Rise Up participants will now be able to enroll in online educational courses, search for global job opportunities, and network with other young people across the globe.
