Date grant awarded: November 19, 2016

As a developing country, Tanzania struggles with both human and animal rights, but few people choose to advocate for the later. In the city of Arusha, Johnson Lyimo and Odile Buium run the non-profit, Meru Animal Welfare Organisation, founded on ensuring the wellbeing of domesticated animals, primarily donkeys, dogs and cats. The project provides outreach in schools, radio segments, trainings on animal rights and a mobile clinic where various health services are offered.
